WARNING: Gryffon Courier *You may SUE me*

Friday, December 22, 2017

12/22/17 UPDATE: The P80.00 has been returned last night.  After 15 days.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The search for a reliable courier is never over.  Simply because at one point, they will somehow fuck up a delivery, lose a package or just not pick up.  I don't usually complain here on my blog as I want this space to be a platform for positivity, but then when I heard what I heard from the person I was speaking to from Gryffon Courier, I knew I had to write this.

This holiday season, as we all now, Filipinos are crammers.  We like doing things last minute.  A few weeks ago, I saw this company, Gryffon Courier being suggested by people in a facebook group.  It caught my attention and convinced me to book a pick up.

The first transaction went on smoothly.  The second and the third as well, so for another package well I decided to use them again.  I mean what are the odds, right?

So, Gryffon courier told me that it had delivered a package last December 2, 2017 when it fact it only did on December 4, 2017.  I did not catch this lie early, I was only informed by the receiver that the courier was lying - how?  This is what happened:

Last December 3, 2017  the receiver emails me and asks me for her tracking number, since I was out, I only sent it to her last December 4, 2017 (Monday).  With this, I called Gryffon Courier and spoke to a certain Arnie, I asked for the status of the package I sent, so I gave her the tracking number.  She then told me that the package was delivered last December 2, 2017.  It made it wonder to be honest, so what I did  was to ask for the receiving copy of the waybill.  I was so impressed because Arnie emailed me the waybill with the signature of the recipient.

So I sent the image of the waybill to the receiver to confirm if it was indeed her signature.  And you know what the receiver replied with?  That the signature was not hers, and that she only received the package that same morning.

I thought, you know what - it might be an isolated incident.  I reported this to Gryffon via their emails, but I received NO REPLY.

Fast forward to last week (and more than a week ago).  I was sending 4 packages to Marikina.  When the rider came to pick it up, he told me that the packages were already EXTRA LARGE and that the rate was P80.00 per package.  I knew it wasn't an extra large bag because it was just the same size as other company's large bag.  But he insisted, even went as far as telling me that he might be charged by the company for collecting a wrong amount.  So I agreed, that I will pay the P80.00 per packaged, but when I call the office the next day and discover that it's only P60.00, he will need to return the overpayment to me the next day.  He agreed.

So I did my due diligence.  I weighed my package.  Asked for the measurement of the Large bag.  I discovered that this large bag was indeed P60.00 only.  The 80.00 is an extra large packaging - that is over 3 kilos.  My package was less that 3 kilos, it was even just a little less than 2 kilos.  I was able to speak to Arnie again and she confirmed that the package should have been only P60.00.  I then told her that I will be expecting a return of my overpayment of P80.00 (20 pesos over payment for 4 packages).  She said yes, and that she will be telling the rider to return it to me that same day.

There was no sign of the rider until now.

Last Tuesday, I called Gryffon to book a pick-up, I figured since I have P80.00 with the, I might as well use it, right?  Well, the rider never came.  So yesterday morning, I called Gryffon Courier to inform them that I am still waiting for the P80.00 to be returned to me, Arnie promised me that the money will be returned yesterday.  Yesterday came and went, still no sign.

So this afternoon, I called Gryffon Courier - the girl I spoke to was new (she told me she was new), I then asked where the rider was and to report that the P80.00 was still not returned to me.  I then heard people talking in the background telling her to ask for bank details, so they can deposit the P80.00.  I honestly didnt want to disclose those details to strangers, but they insisted.  I wanted to speak to someone in charge, but the people talking in the background were too chicken to speak to me.  Note that I wasn't shouting nor was my voice loud, I was just very insistent.  After a few words here and there the girls I spoke to said *Sabi ni sir, kunin nalang daw po bank details niyo idedeposit daw po*  I then asked, when?  Today?  They weren't sure.  I was already frustrated this time and said *Kung hindi nadeposit today, may penalty na P20.00/day for everyday na hindi maideposit?*  She then told a man, and the man said there's no such penalty.  So I asked to speak to this man.

This man's name is Eugene (Torres, if I heard it correctly) he then told me that he will PERSONALLY go to my pick-up address tomorrow at 2PM to hand me the P80.00.  I then said, what if he doesn't show up tomorrow at 2pm, do you know what he answered me with?

YOU CAN SUE ME.

Where in hell did that statement come from?!  I was pissed!  I then told him, I am asking for an assurance that he will really come, why did he need to say those words to me?  He said, because I did not believe him?!  I told him, how can I sue you?  On what grounds?  That what he said was very very SILLY.  That we are all learned people why does he need to utter those words?  To intimidate?  To challenge?  What the FUCK for?  I cannot for the life of me understand, really.

So what did I do next?  I messaged the company on their facebook page.  I then asked for this name and position, and this is what his reply was:

This person belongs to a SERVICE BUSINESS and this is the kind of customer service that he offers.  My gulay.

I will NEVER EVER AGAIN use Gryffon Courier.

Serenitea JUMBO Cups 9th Anniversary!

Saturday, December 16, 2017

I can't believe it's been 9 years.

I remember it as if it was just yesterday.  Meeting up with food bloggers for a cup or two of Serenitea Milk Tea.  Do you know that I used to drive to Serenitea Banawe (it's old location along N. Roxas) about 3x a week just to get my milk tea fix?  I would order 4 large ones.  One for me during the trip back home, one for my Panget and another one for me for the next day.  Yes, I would always ALWAYS buy 4 large cups.

The first question I asked my OB when I was pregnant with Kailee was if I could still drink Milk Teas - and she said YES.  I was soooo very happy!  Hahaha..  Kailee was a milk tea baby, and she's already 6!  Time flies noh?

To celebrate Serenitea's 9th year anniversary - they're treating us to the JUMBO CUPS!  Wonderful news right?  Thank you Serenitea for loving us.

You will always ALWAYS be my first love when it comes to milk teas.

Livin Lovin LOCALLY Fruit Juices

Friday, December 15, 2017

Locally is a juice brand made here in the country.  What is unique about it is that it's made from fruits found locally plus is humorous word play for each type of juice.  Look at the colorful and funny packaging:

I think it's so mighty that a local company decided to pursue juices and launch them this way - with a little humor.  It's really cute and entertaining.  I believe that we Filipinos are happier compared to other people in the world - we smile amidst challenges and this perfectly personifies the Filipino brand.  I was so entertained reading through the captions of these juices.  What's more is that the taste is delicious.  I love them all - I don't think there's one variant that didn't taste good.  My personal favorite is Mangosteen because, I don't eat Mangosteen.  Hahaha..  I tried the juice and masarap pala!  The Sineguelas, I just watch my mom eat it too - but now I can proudly say, I drank sineguelas!  Haha..

These juices come in bottles and in slim cans like this below:

My personal favorite from the brand is their Buco Juice / Coconut Water.  It's clear - yes, CLEAR and not yellowish.  It doesn't have an after taste and its very refreshing.  I have tried other brands in the market and have always wondered why the buco juice is not clear, but Locally's Merci, Buco is clear.  To prove it, I have a video below:

Another surprise for me was the other two variants of Merci, Buco - the Buco Pandan and the Buco Lychee.  These remind me soooo much of the local desserts that are so refreshing.  I'm glad that now, you can have it as a drink - brilliant, right?

Locally is available in the following areas:
Puregold Supermarkets
Robinsons Supermarkets
SM Supermarkets
South Supermarket
Rustan's & Shopwise
Waltermart Supermarkets
7-Eleven Convenience Stores

Try one, I promise, it's really really good!

Parenting 101: Is there a right formula for disciplining?

Friday, December 08, 2017

The answer is NO, there isn't.

Just this morning - I was so angry at Kailee because she opened toys that was meant for some of her friends.  She knew these toys were for her friends as we were preparing them the other day.  I have just set them aside and I was planning to wrap them tonight.

As I was about to wear my shoes, I noticed that there were empty boxes of the said toy on the trash bin.  I could feel blood rising, I call Kailee and Connor.  When they saw me, Kailee had this guilty look in her eyes.  I asked them both who opened the toys.  The pointed to one another.  Connor said *Atchi opened it!* then Kailee said in return *He opened it too!*

If you were in my shoes, what would you have done?

What I did?  I was so angry that I wanted to throw a fit.  I had to be controlled.  It's so effing hard to control your anger with the kids.  Super hard.  REALLY SUPER HARD!  I really wanted to scream!  But I couldn't and so I did the next best thing - I spoke in a very very very LOUD voice.  I know it might be a small thing this issue, but to me, it was something I did not want to just easily pass and forgive immediately.  I don't want them to think that it's perfectly fine opening toys that are not meant for them.  I wanted them to know that I am angry at what they did.

I told Kailee that since she opened a few toys, that a few of her classmates won't be receiving anything from her.  She looked so worried and started to tear up.  Connor couldn't care less because he knew it wasn't for his friends.  I swear, I wanted to scream my head off, but I just spoke in a very loud voice that I was so disappointed and angry and she will get punished.   When she heard the word *punish* she cried even harder.  There are times when I reprimand Kailee that my heart melts when she starts to cry, but her crying this morning did not melt any part of my heart - what I felt was anger, sadness and almost giving up.

This parenting thing - I'm failing, I think.  It's effing hard!

I try and show them good things, being good, being thankful, being nice, being helpful, and especially being mindful.  But my goodness - they do the opposite.  It makes me wonder though - did my mom have a hard time raising us?  You know, I asked her this ha - she said that when we were young, we were really *mabait* we followed her every whim.  It makes me think - why are my children not like that?  I then realized because I acknowledge their feelings, I listen to their opinion and I let them express themselves.

Was I wrong?

I know they're still young and I have a long looooooooooong way to go, but at this stage - I feel like I'm starting to burn out.  I try not to read articles on parenting anymore because I get more confused!  Some say don't spank kids, well - I've tried talking to them and they seem to forget it the instant we finish the conversation, so I've resorted to spanking with a stick when they really misbehave and so something that deserves more than just a talk.

I remember watching this video of a mom saying that it's okay for her kids to *hate* her because a mom is NOT a friend, a mom is a mother and our role is to guide and make them into proper human beings to the world.

It's so tiring this parenting thing, when the kids are misbehaving.  But it's a joy when they're all good and happy and loving.

I love my children but sometimes - arghhhhhhh... I'm sure you all feel this.  It's not always LOVING.  Can't we all just get along?  As in really get along?

Lord, help us.

Life talaga...

Hahaha....

Starbucks 20th Anniversary + Merchandise

Friday, December 01, 2017

I remember it as if it were only yesterday, the first Starbucks store opening in 6750 Makati.  I have an aunt who is a huge HUGE fan of Starbucks and was giddy with excitement.  I remember too that she kept her receipt.  I wonder where that receipt is now.  Hahahaha!!  I remember we would go every Sunday to Starbucks for the next few months, it was a *reward* for us nieces and nephews for going with them to visit my Angkong in Manila Memorial.

I can't believe that it has been 20 years already.

As part of the Starbucks 20th Anniversary, they are launching these beautiful limited edition merchandise this afternoon at 2:00PM in their 6750 store.

Look at those beauties.
