You should hear that line being said by Michael Scofield of the new series (na kinalolokohan ko) Prison Break. It was to die for!! Super kinilig ako, I swear!!

PRISON BREAK - is the latest series that I am obsessed with. I already saw the WHOLE first season - which consists of 13 episodes. Kinda short huh? But hell, it was worth all the late night watching! I finished the series in 2 days! Considering that I bought my copy just last Saturday afternoon! And by last night I was done!!

The series involves a number of characters that you won't usually see together (given that they're out of the walls) - there's a theif - Sucre and C-Note, a pedophile - T-Bag, a mobster - John Abruzzi, a notorious hijacker/theif - Charles Westmoreland aka DB Cooper, a death row inmate - Lincoln Burrows and a thief/structural engineer - Michael Scofield. These are working together for a common goal - that is to break out of prison. And who's idea is it?? The brilliant engineer of course!! The main man, Michael Scofield!

I can't wait for the next season!! I really can't!!!

I love you Michael Scofield!! I love you even if you're inside the prison! I will break you out! Hahaha...:)

Meeting Dr. Canlas

Saturday, February 25, 2006

I never wake up early on Saturdays - NEVER - but today, I needed to - because 'my' panget needed to go to the doctor at 9am. So I had to be at Panget's house early to drive him to St. Lukes. And so I went - super nagmamadali magpahatid - and while driving to St. Lukes - 'my' panget was like a back-seat driver. EVERY LITTLE THING I DO may pangaral - like do this and do that - dito ka sa lane na ito or whatever. I was getting pissed (and nervous) kasi I couldn't drive properly! So I told him to hush up. My only problem in driving is that I HATE parking - I really don't know how! I only know how to park with the front first. HE INSISTED THAT I DO THE BACK FIRST!!!!!!! So shempre - pinag-pawisan ako diba? But I'm proud to say that I got it in just 1 try! O diba? Improvement right?? (Super na yan!!) And so we walked towards St. Lukes - I had to go get his MRI results first - and when I got them and handed them to Panget - he read aloud the interpretation proudly and with a smile - IT IS ANOTHER ACL (Anterior Cruciate Ligament)! I really don't know if he was being sarcastic (his usual self) or not! So as we entered the rehab center of St. Lukes - we were greeted by the ever smiling and pretty Marikit - the secretary/sexy-tary of Dr. Raul Canlas. When she saw Panget all she could say was 'Again?' - and told us to wait outside till Dr. Canlas arrives. And so we waited. For about 15 minutes. When Dr. Canlas entered his office - he was welcomed by 3 patients one of whom I recognized because he used to play for UST in the UAAP (halata bang UAAP fan?) - I think his name is Gilbert Lao he was with 2 other people. I think we were the 8th to wait to be served, but take note - each consultation only took about 5-10 minutes.

When we were called into the room - Dr. Canlas gave me a look that sort of meant 'Nanaman?' I was laughing - deep inside lang - his office was really simple - then I saw an Ateneo Plaque (argh.. rival school!!) then he began inspecting Panget's right knee - upon seeing the swelling he uttered the words I dreaded 'It's definitely another ACL' then looked at me and said 'Ikaw kasi, hindi mo inaalagaan' Grr... ako pa tuloy ang may kasalanan - when in fact I never failed to tell Panget to stretch and not to 'pilit' to play if he feels his knee getting stiff - pero he's so STUBBORN and won't listen to me. Ako pa ang napag-sabihan. Hmph!! Anyways - Dr. Canlas was nice enough to show me what ACL was - he made Panget relax both his legs - he had one hand a little above the knee and the other hand a little below the knee and moved it in opposite directions - it didn't move at all. He said because there were screws inside already to hold it in place. Then he moved to the 'swollen' knee and did the same.. AND IT MOVED!! Kadiri talaga!!! As in It really moved!! Parang nawala sa place yung knee nya!! Waaaaaaaaaaah!! Good thing I didn't faint! Or else - no one can save me from the fall!! haha.. He was really nice - I mean he let me understand what ACL meant and what it literally looked like! Anyhoo - he just told us that the operation will be different - it'll be a smaller incision this time and instead of a long screw - he'll be using a smaller one and a plate - he also said that in 3 days - 'my' Panget will be able to do his normal daily tasks - again. I do hope so! But wait, there's another clincher - I asked him when Panget had his surgery on his righ leg - Dr. Canlas looked at Panget's chart and told me with a big smile on his face 'EXACLTY THREE YEARS AGO!' Dogdammit!! Talagang tinaon pa sa Anniversary ng first ACL nya diba? Anak ng tipaklong talaga - o!!

After this consultation - Panget told me 'My knee hurts - better get the car I'll meet you at the lobby' - Of course, I willingly obliged - INJURED kasi eh. And after, we went to QC to have an early lunch - ginugutom na raw kasi sha. And once again, I had to park the car - I told Panget 'Na-over na ang quota ko for parking for 1 day!!' I will be experiencing cold sweats and withdrawal symptoms pag may 3rd time pa!

I hope Panget gets his surgery as soon as possible - to get it over and done with, right? :)

Di na natuto..

These were the words uttered by Nurse Fatima at Dr. Wee's office at about 3pm this afternoon. I was there because 'my' panget - hurt his knee - again. He asked me to accompany him to the doctor - because he can't move very well - take note that I am the PERFECT alalay - kasi asikaso to the max! I think 2 steps ahead! Hahaha.. :)

Last night - at about 11pm - I got a text message from Panget - saying that he hurt his left knee and is on the way to the Orthopedic Hospital in Banawe. Of course I was worried, and so I called him - my first words were 'WHAAAAAAAAAAAt??????' He just laughed upon hearing me sweetly scream. He just replied 'Eh ganon eh!' Fine, he's okay - but... another injury?? Although he said that it didn't feel like another ACL - but he wanted to know for sure too. And so we went to Dr. Wee's office at St. Lukes. He just calmy said 'ACL na yan' i-MRI natin to make sure. I called the secretary at our office to schedule an MRI for tomorrow - Friday - the earliest possible time. And the earliest was - 5pm - because 'my' panget has already a titanium metal screw on his right knee - he needed a special machine or else the force of the magnet will - I don't know what - to the machine 'delikado' raw sabi ni technician Ricky.

Gaining Wisdom

Everyday is new learning experience. This holds true for everyone - but for me, since turning 26 - it has been magnified. I never thought that I will literally learn something new each day - but just last night I came to understand what 'learning' exactly meant. I guess learning comes with age, and since I'm a year older - I have the past 365 days to thank for - because I'm a better, stronger person now than I was a year ago.

I'm always in awe whenever I hear very sensible advice. Parang - why didn't I think of that? My mom always tells me - wisdom comes with age - because its the experience that molds you. You become brighter, smarter, wiser, and more mature. The things that bothered you a few years ago becomes a laughing matter now. It's something to be learned.

It's so odd - that being a Catholic - I seldom go to Mass and pray - My 2006 New Year's resolution is to pray more and develop a better relationship with the God - since then I've been praying and trying to go to church whenever I can. To tell you the truth - I've never been calmer than I am now - I'm more at peace with things (with exceptions of mood bursts and PMS) - I never thought I'd say this but PRAYING REALLY HELPS. It takes away the negative vibe in me thus making those around me become more positive. I'm a pessimist - I really am - but now, somehow that's slowly changing. It's really weird how I see good things with the bad. I realized (while watching Pinoy Big Brother Celebrity Edition) that there is good in everyone, no exceptions. I just hope the 'goodness' in us will never run out. :)

biting off more than i can chew

Wednesday, February 22, 2006

did i say it correctly? kasi parang may mali sa phrase eh.. well, that's my problem - in my effort and willingness to help people, sometimes - I bit more than I could chew.

That's one of my weaknesses. I'm super willing to help others (namana ko sa mom ko) but then when it's my turn to be help - I find that people are kind of - missing - I'm not saying that these friends NEED to help me - but more on the - how come I'm willing to help others, while others just sit there - stare at the computer or something and ignore the fact that - someone needs help?! It's frustrating all right - but i guess that's how I'm built.

Learning more and more of myself - everyday. Every single day.

Good night everyone!! :)

Why is it that there are some people who work on something half-baked?? Why not give it your best? It's like saying that you do your work without heart but when it's your personal life - everything should be perfect?? I hate it when that happens - because I WILL NEED TO CLEAN UP THE MESS!! I was taught to be very detailed when it comes to working - there should be minimal mistakes and better if none.

When will they EVER learn??

Happy Birthday Cubie!!

Wednesday, February 15, 2006

There’s nothing I won’t try, Just to make you mine, To get a little closer, Would be so divine, And everytime i see you, You make me come undone, I always want you near me, In you I found the one

Oh why don’t you smile my only star
Shine on baby
Smile my only star

With you by my side, And girl it feels so right, And now that im close to you, I could stay all night, No matter where I go, No matter what I do, In the end your smile, Brings me back to you, You shine so true, I can’t believe you’re mine, And everything may change, But to me you’ll always shine

I know it's cheesy - but hell.. I WANT TO WATCH THIS MOVIE SO BADLY! My oh-so-loving 'Panget' REFUSES to watch this with me - he says he wouldn't be caught dead watching this!! At least I have a good friend - embodied by Imma - and she's willing to watch with me.. and since she's the ONLY ONE who's willing to watch this movie with me, I WILL MAKE HER LIBRE!!! :) Yes!! Hahaha... 'Panget' - beat that!! :)

It's strange (I know!!) that whenever I see Sam Milby (buo pa talaga yung name eh noh?) I get all smiley and kilig!! I swear - I still haven't gotten over the fact that he literally 'escaped' me in Glorietta.. Dog Dammit!!

what is HAPPINESS to you??

Thursday, February 02, 2006

'So, what is happiness to you?'

This question has been asked to me a dozen times by friends after watching Cameron Crowe's flick 'Vanilla Sky'. So, (short pause) what is happiness to you?

Well, I just got back from the Quezon City Postal office in Nia Road - you may wonder why I was there - well, I was picking up a package that was sent to me by a friend in the US. I was falling in line at window 37 (because it was written in the notice I received Monday), I was supposed to be the next one to be entertained when this pretty lady passed me and gave her notice to the woman on the counter! Of course, since I queued up, I expected to be next to be served, but no - the woman at the counter DID NOT MIND what she saw, she just looked down, wrote something on a piece of paper and went on entertaining the one who made singit! For some strange reason, I did utter a word (for those who know me - dapat by this time nakikipag-away na ako! haha..) I just waited patiently - it was the girl who was behind me that was kind of nag-ngingitngit since she will have to wait a few more seconds right? Me naman, I just waited - waited for the Postal Service employee to give me a receipt that says that I need to pay PHP35.00 for inspection of my package. So I paid the cashier, and with goodwill gave her 3 pcs of the SMINT candy I got for free at Kym's event in Mezze last January 26. She smiled at me and said thanks.

Going back to the woman who cut in line, shempre she was ahead of me in getting her package, so I made it a point to make ganti and 'cut' her din when her item comes. As I was about to do so, (we were both on the pick-up counter) when her package arrived, the custodian opened her box to see what was inside. Inside was a note written in BIG BOLD letters with a message 'KAMUSTA KAYO DIYAN? WAG NYO AKONG ALA-LA-HANIN, MABUTI AKO DITO, KAMUSTA NAMAN KAYO?' That was all that's written on the note and inside the box were food/goodies from Japan. The pretty girl upon reading the note and seeing the items inside the box, her eyes started to well up with tears! Her facial expression was unexplainable - it was a mix of delight and shock! She was so teary eyed and announced to us 'Ganyan talaga sha, laging nagpapadala ng pagkain' She was so happy! I knew she was happy because I can feel it and see it. Strange but I swear, I was really happy for her even if she cut me kanina. Seeing and experiencing all this - I forgot na my intention of making ganti! Haha!! Weird noh? But I guess there was a reason why I wasn't too irritated when she cut me in line a while ago. Well, I'm glad to see - that is what happiness is to her is - receiving that certain package with a note and food/goodies.

So, I ask you now...... What is happiness to you? :)

I've heard of so many horror stories from dissatisfied MANGO clients, I've read a certain email on the bad treatment or should I say 'unfair' treatments of MANGO'S management. I myself am a victim of such 'unfair-ness' of Mango. Last 2003, I bought a pair of pants that were on SALE at the Glorietta Branch - the pants cost around 1.3K - since it was on sale, I bought it because the fit was really nice. A few days after my purchase I was at the Shangri-la branch, trying my best to look for a good steal (do not take this literally). I chanced upon the same pair of pants I bought - Lo and behold, I saw the price tag - the sale price was P899.00 - DAMN! i got sa irritated that I went to the cashier and told her that I bought the exact same pair in Glorietta for 1.3K and here it was just P899.00! She told me that the SALE PRICES OF ITEMS VARIES IN EVERY STORE - how can this be so? Aren't ALL items in ALL their stores have THE SAME price tags? I was answered by a 'Eh ganon po eh!' This irritated me much more! SINCE THEN I SWORE OFF GOING IN THEIR STORES - I've boycotted their store since then - and NEVER will I go back.. mark my words - NEVER!! Sorry to all MANGO fans - but whenever I see people rushing to go to MANGO whenever they're on SALE - Lagi ko nalang naiisip ' NILOLOKO LANG KAYO NG MANGO - Kung alam nyo lang.. Hindi nyo yan pupuntahan every time'

My good friend Imma, her husband and their daughter was a recent victim of Mango, below is my friend's narration of what exactly happened to them.

Raphie is the daughter of my friend Imma - she just turned 2 last July 31, 2006

Around 3:30 to 4:00 PM , December 04, Sunday, I , I went in Mango Glorietta 2. Between the time mentioned, Raphie was running within the establishment along with other children (as kids often do in presence of others) and she slipped and landed on one of the shops display racks. The display rack unfortunately had a had a sharp edge enough to slash-open Raphie’s chin. She bled profusely resulting from a 2.5cm laceration on her chin prompting us to bring her to the clinic above Mercury Drug Store in Glorietta for emergency first aid treatment. We are aware of our responsibility as parents, so a fall or two, a bruise , even the ugly ones are things we can set aside , But an open chin? A 30 minute surgery by a plastic surgeon? That’s another thing. That rack must have been that sharp or else, Raphie would have not sustained anything more than an ugly bruise or a severe scratch maybe. So no one has the right to downplay my emotions ( a mother ,at least) after seeing my daughter being laid on an operating table , while her surgeon and the anesthesiologist are prepping up and put on a gas mask on her. I can’t explain in words the pain it caused me seeing her slowing drifting to sleep knowing when she wakes up she will have a scar she will live with for a very long time. After all these things, all I get is a stone cold response from a supposed Manager in the Head Office with not a hint of compassion and apology to what happened. Any trained manager know customer complaints must be dealt with properly by first Diffusing the anger/emotion and say “sorry for what happened but we will look into what happened and will do give you a call” Even fastfood restaurants treat customers better. The incident happened in their store, they should be responsible to whatever racks they use to ensure that whoever hits there will not be slashed open! This woman, Ayie Guilberto did not even say “sori maam, I didn’t know what happened, but we will look into it” That would have made any mother feel a little better. Had we been an ayala or a cojuangco, do you think they’ll just brush us aside like that? I don’t think so.
So I wrote the Mango President/owner…only after almost 4 weeks did he reply on a “printed” not official, letterhead , (seems like a scratch paper with markings at the back) put in an envelop one can buy in a sari sari store. He was telling me it was fault! He didn’t even address my complaints regarding one of his managers. To add insult to injury, he sent me a cheap looking Mango Shirt I wouldnt buy even if it were on 80% sale . I mean, after he told me it was my fault , he actually thought a shirt will just calm me, I was more infuriated, sana wala nalang tshirt. I spent more than that in his stores, and definitely spent more in Cardinal Santos Hospital.

Even a popular young female fashion designer told me one time she had to return a pair of jeans coz they gave her the wrong size, it still had a price tag and all..receipt pa…the sales people refused to change it until they reached to the operations manager…

That’s why I will rather wear the cheapest shirt I can find in SM stores or surplus than items in mango, kahit sale pa sila ng 80%, if they give out shirts, I ‘ll be happy to give them to the basureros so they can give them to their wives…That’s how I hate Mango. Don’t go to Polo Garage too..same group so same culture.

Now with this incident - I think you'd want to think TWICE and even THRICE whenever you're about to enter MANGO. What if this happend to you a few years from now? Would you still go and purchase items from their store?

There's another incident that happend to a fellow GirlTalker Javanilla - here's her story. Read it and spread the word.
